HOTD

Hair of the day: mermaid plait

I LOVE this. It is really simple to do and makes your hair look a bit more exciting (works well with curly hair too). It is just a simple fringe french plait secured with hair grips.

I do get these annoying fluffy bits of baby hair appearing though on my forehead. lovely!

In running news I ran 3 miles today at a slow easy pace, interval training tomorrow. Oh my.

Body Shop Haul

A few weeks ago, Body shop had a pretty good online sale on, and my boyfriend, being a massive bargain freak found it and insisted we take advantage. Well I wasn't going to say no! So I thought I would do a review of some of the things I choose. (Sorry about the pretty rubbish camera focusing)

Body Shop
Passion Fruit Body Butter 200ml
Vitamin E Moisture Cream 50ml
Lightening Touch 3ml
Skin Primer Matte It

First onto the moisturizers:

Who doesn't love the Body Shop body butters? This is my second tub of the passion fruit flavoured one. I also love the mango and the weirdly the coconut (not a massive fan of eating it-eurgh bounty!) This one is for normal/dry skin and smells like a dream. An amazing wish-it-was-real dream. I recently had the 'duo' body butter, which came in a pink tub and was half for normal skin and half for dry skin. The dry skin half was ultra thick, like whipped cream but the 'normal' half was a little too runny for my liking. I would recommend both but they are rather expensive (unless there's a sale-wooo!) and I do seem to go through them pretty quickly. The duo one does not smell as good either.

The small facial moisturizer, as you can probably see from the photo, is almost gone :( It says it is for all skin types-a daily antioxidant protector and moisturizer. I'm not sure about the whole antioxidant shabaz, but it is really light and smells quite pleasant-doesn't seem to block my pores or cause me to break out which is great. I probably need one a little thicker though. Any recommendations?

Beauty products:

Now I'm not entirely convinced by either of these products. The primer either works fantastically or goes a bit funky around the nose area when you add foundation on top. You either have to put foundation on straight away or wait for about an hour or it goes a bit gross. It does make your skin feel ultra smooth and when it works well with the foundation, it makes your make up stay on for longer and look better. Bit of a gamble though!

The 'lightening touch' product (the one in the silver tube), is a mix between a concealer and a highlighter. It does work well under the eyes, but isn't thick enough for me to hide my annoying under eye dark circles. Not sure it's worth buying as full price it is £14, but if you only want a little refreshing then this is perfect.

First review done!

Oh dear what have I signed up for...

Today I ran an amazing six miles and felt really good - largely in preparation for a ridiculous event that I signed up for in two weeks time. Called 'The General Race', the event is taking place in Winchester on the 20th and involves running 10k over a 'challenging course'. It was only after I booked my place that I noticed the rather masculine, army based whole theme going on on their website... One race option includes competing an obstacle course half way around, another carrying a 5kg rifle around the whole track! I'm pretty sure 10k will be enough for me without including monkey bars, rope swings or climbing haystacks. I;m a little worried about the muddiness of the course, one picture on the Facebook event shows a guy 'testing out' running through (waist deep!!) what looks like a RIVER. Is this in my race??? O dear. No white top for me...

On another note, I have given myself a new rule not to buy any new clothes that I can't wear to my job in September (bar the graduation dress). This rule is not as bad as I first though... think beautiful ZARA blouses, office heels and h&m pencil trousers. Today I wore one of my new additions, a Miss Selfridge shirt that I bought two weeks ago (20% off that day for students, waheyyy). It is cream-half lacey and half silky. I'm not sure the picture do it justice. But I'm not the best photographer, or photographee!

Run Baby Run

Having signed up for the London Marathon a few days ago, I thought the most productive thing to do would be, as I gazed out of my slightly scummy bedroom window at the storm of piercing bullets of ice, to buy some new kit. Not having had the best of previous trainer buying experiences (one pair transforming me into a flat footed phenomena, think- 'Phoebe run' & 'LOUD NOISES'), I decided on a pair of Nike Dart 9 running shoes (lovely lilac shade) so here's hoping these won't make my feet cry. A thin thermal long sleeved top and leggings also were added into my Sports Direct basket (at £2 each!!! (down from 25)). BOOM. However while the top was pretty perfect, I bought the leggings in a size 6 meaning that they don't quite cover my bottom. Lovely.

So this afternoon, after having a lazy afternoon watching The Apprentice, it's not like I have a dissertation due in four days...., I decided to go for a run. 5km. Quite good, apart from five minutes in when I discovered that I had been pooed on. by a bird (presumably!!). onto my new shorts. I thought it was an unusual take on the Nike tick at first,(I wasn't wearing my glasses/contacts). Perhaps a pattern on the shorts that I hadn't previously discovered. NOPE.I soon found out after I put my finger into the gloopy, green fun. This did lead to jogging on the spot whilst frantically rubbing at my shorts with pieces of leaf and tree, hopefully no-one saw...

Not quite used to the new camera....
